Aleisha LaNaé Allen (born April 28, 1991)[1][2] is an American former actress. Allen is most known for her role as "Lindsay" in the 2005 film Are We There Yet and its 2007 sequel Are We Done Yet. She is also notable for her role as "Alica" in the 2003 film School of Rock and as the "Sidetable Drawer" on the children's animated television show Blue's Clues, for 6 seasons.

Acting career[edit | edit source]

Allen was born on April 28, 1991 in The Bronx, New York to parents Otis and Angela LaNaé Allen.[3][4] Allen began a modeling career at the tender age of 4 before transitioning to movie and television roles.[5]

She got her first role in mainstream media as the sidetable drawer in the children's animated TV show, Blue's Clues as a recurring character from 1996 until the show's cancellation in 2004. Allen had minor roles between 1996 and 2003 briefly appearing in The Best Man credited as "flower girl" and four episodes of Out of the Box in 1999 credited by her first name.[6]

In 2003 Allen gained more notoriety for her role as "Alica" in School of Rock. In 2005 and 2007 Allen got a supporting role in the films Are We There Yet? and Are We Done Yet?, as Lindsay, a mischievous girl that is chaperoned and driven along with her brother Kevin (played by Phillp Daniel Bolden) by Nick (played by Ice Cube).[7][8] Allen later had fewer roles in movies and TV shows after 2007 appearing in The Electric Company and Young Adult with her final role in You're Nobody 'til Somebody Kills You in 2011 before going on a acting hiatus.

Allen attended Columbia University and Pace University in the study of speech-language pathology, graduating from Pace University in 2013 and Columbia University in 2016.[9] Allen also is a registered speech pathologist and instructor at Columbia university.[10][11]

In 2013, Allen reunited with her School of Rock cast in Austin, Texas.[12] They had another reunion in 2019.[13]
